Alexander....
On getting a late start: "I didn't start riding motorcycle until I was about 14 or 15. I can remember always wanting to ride but never having a bike. Later I would ask my Dad about this and he would simply say, "You never asked!"
On growing up Malcolm's son: "People always ask me, what was it like growing up with Malcolm as your Dad? I only can say, "What was it like growing up with your Dad as your Dad?" It was pretty much the same except we couldn't walk around the pits without getting stopped."
On riding his motorcycle: "I ride my motorcycle every chance I get. There is nothing better than throwing your leg over a bike you are completely at peace with. When I feel that connection and comfort on a motorcycle there is nothing I can't do."
On riding motorcycles: "I made a promise to myself that I would never turn down the opportunity to race. No matter how different the bike or car, no matter how far away the race, no matter what... I'm going to ride. If you offer me a street bike to race at EnduroCross, I just might take you up on it."
On work: "I'm not a professional racer, I would never trick myself into believing that I could make a living racing. I'm just a professional that also happens to be a racer. I work full time at the family business Malcolm Smith Motorsports in Riverside, CA. One of the greatest things about working in the motorcycle industry is the freedom I have to take-off to places like Romania and race for a week."
On life: "I just want to be riding my motorcycle at my Dad's age. I can only hope at that point I ride like he still does."
